Guinness Greatest of the Streets set for National Racquet Centre

The National Racquet Center on Woolford Avenue will be the latest venue that will be utilized for the Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ Georgetown Championship.

This was disclosed by Banks DIH Limited, the organizers of the annual tournament.

According to an official release from the company, July 20th and 27th will be staged at the Woolford Avenue location.

The other nights of the seven day event will be held  at traditional venues the National Cultural Center and Burnham Court.

July 12th, 19th and 26th is billed for the National Cultural Centre Tarmac, whilst July 13th will be hosted at the Burnham Court. The venue for the final will be announced shortly.

The first two nights of the event, which features 32 teams, will utilize an elimination format.

The resulting 16 teams will advance to the group stage which will held over the period of three days. 

The top two from each group will advance to the quarterfinal round and subsequent semi-final, which is penciled for the penultimate match-day date.

Meanwhile, the eight teams which fail to progress to the knockout round will contest the Guinness Plate Championship.

Presently, the 16 automatic qualifiers are defending champion Gold is Money, GTI Ballers, Queen Street Tiger Bay, Upsetters, Rising Stars, North Ruimveldt, Future Stars, Kingston, California Square, Trap Squad, Leopold Street, Ol-Skool Ballers, Bent Street, North East La Penitence, Sparta Boss and Norton Street.

The resulting winner of the zone will automatically seal their place in the National Championship, which is penciled  to commence in August.

Presently, Beacons [Bartica Champion], Melanie-B [East Coast Demerara winner], Brothers United [West Demerara/East Bank Demerara winner], Trafalgar [Berbice champion] and High Rollers [Linden champion] are the teams to have secured automatic berths to the national championship.
