Dear Editor,
I wish to bring to your attention that, at long last, the streetlights in West Berbice are “back on”, though quite a few of them are yet to be fixed. In this regard, I must express gratitude to the powers that be, on behalf of the residents and everyone else who benefits from working street lights.
I must also ask of our government and opposition to go past the political cynicism and “seek the interest of Guyanese and Guyana as a priority. It is apposite to remind them all that they are duly elected by the people. They also swore to execute their portfolios “without fear or favour, affection or ill will.” We deserve better. It’s unfortunate that the CCJ has to ask the President and Opposition Leader to meet, discuss and arrive at consensus and save us from the present dilemma. One of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People (in Stephen Covey’s book by the same name) is, “Think Win-Win”. We need oneness, at the highest political level, not animosity. God bless our President, Opposition Leader and all of Guyana.
Yours faithfully,
Ovid Schultz
