A Smithfield, New Amsterdam man was found with more than two kilogrammes (kg) of marijuana during a stop and search operation along the Weldaad Public Road on Monday.
The 43-year-old man was travelling in a vehicle bearing licence plate HC 7859, when he was busted with some 2,688 grammes of cannabis (equivalent to 2.68 kg).
Stabroek News was told that during the search, a quantity of leaves, stems and seeds suspected to be cannabis were found in a haversack belonging to the man.
He was arrested and is being held at the Weldaad Police Station pending charges.
