An Enmore, East Coast Demerara fisherman is currently confined to bed due to injuries he suffered last Thursday when he was attacked and robbed some 200 feet from his home.
Injured is Somdatt Singh called “Ravi”, a father of two of Lot 904 Enmore Hope West, ECD.

“He can’t move. He deh home and we gah mind he like baby….they cast he down,” the injured man wife, Amiena Singh told Stabroek News yesterday.
Amiena explained that Singh left home on Thursday morning to ply his trade.
On his return home, she said he stopped at a shop where he consumed several beers before continuing his journey.
While on his way home, Amiena said that Singh related to her that he saw three men who called him.
However, Singh refused to approach the men after which there was an exchange of words with him and them.
“He was walking coming home and there was three boys at the lantern post corner near a shop. They telling he ‘come’ and he tell them ‘no’ and like they call he name right ‘Ravi come’ and he tell them ‘no’. And he say that how them cuss he about he muddah and he cuss them back about they muddah,”Amiena explained.
She said Singh told her that one of the men then ran towards him and allegedly dealt him a blow to the back of his head resulting in him losing consciousness.
“One ah them run and lash he in he neck back…..and he fall unconscious. He nah know nothing more,” Amiena added.
After he fell unconscious, Amiena said the men allegedly beat Somdatt and relieved him of $20,000 cash which he had in his pocket.
He eventually regained consciousness and made his way home. “When my husband come home, I see my husband was creeping. I want to know why he creeping. I run out the house and I guh,”Amiena said.
Amiena said Somdatt related to her what transpired and identified one of his attackers as a fellow villager who goes by the alias “Marky”.
“He tell me how a boy name ‘Marky’ lash he in he neck back and he not feeling no more pun he neck back,” she noted.
Amiena said she immediately contacted her brother and they transported Somdatt to the hospital.
However, she said despite his condition he was discharged. “….I seh they woulda keep he deh for like two weeks or so till he get better….but they send he home and seh they trying they best,” Amiena stated.
She said doctors have not informed her if Somdatt’s condition is expected to improve in the coming days.
The woman is dissatisfied with the police probe into the matter.
She said that “Marky” was taken into custody but was released on Monday without being charged. The other two suspects are yet to be apprehended.
However, a police source informed Stabroek News that the suspect was charged after his mandatory 72-hours detention period expired.
The source said the investigation into the matter continues.
