Police in Bartica are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of Bartician Lionel Bradford, who was found dead on Saturday morning in front of his bicycle repair shop.
Bradford, 59, of First Avenue, Bartica, is the brother of Gordon Bradford, the Chairman of Region Seven.
Speaking to Stabroek News last night, the regional chairman said the family is awaiting the results of the autopsy to find out the cause of his brother’s death.
He explained that on Saturday morning, he received a call from a female informing him of the tragedy. The chairman recounted that when he arrived on the scene shortly after 8:10 am, his brother’s body was inside a drain in front of his repair shop and from all indications, rigor mortis had set in.
Asked if any visible mark of violence was seen on his brother’s body, the chairman responded in the negative.
He remarked that his brother, a former policeman, was well known to the community as the “bicycle repair man” and for his skills as a “steel pan player for the Barton Steel Orchestra.”
