A fish vendor was on Friday remanded to prison for attempting to commit a felony, less than a day after being charged and placed on a bond for a similar offence.
Franklin Wilson stood before Magistrate Clive Nurse, who read a charge to him which alleged that on June 28, he attempted to commit a felony.
The South Sophia resident denied the allegation levelled against him.
City Police prosecutor David Goodman, told the court that on June 27, the accused was charged before the very court for larceny and was placed on a one-year bond. He added that on June 28, city constables were on patrol duty when they observed the accused walking closely behind persons, acting in a suspicious manner.
The officer then saw the defendant walk behind a woman, unzip her handbag and push his hands inside, unknown to her. Wilson was then arrested by the City Police and later charged.
Goodman went on to object to bail being granted since he said that the accused is well-known for committing such offences.
Magistrate Nurse subsequently remanded him to prison and adjourned the matter until June 22.
