Usual suspects, Emanuel Archibald, Kenisha Phillips, Devaun Barrington, Natrena Hooper and Winston Missigher were some of the standout athletes on show during the two-day National Senior Championships which was concluded yesterday at the National Track and Field Centre.

Archibald was the fastest man at the track during the weekend as he blazed to victories in the blue riband 100m and 200m events.

The Mona Campus standout and long jump record holder crossed the line just ahead of a rejuvenated Daniel Williams (20.94s) in the final of the 200m event, one of the most anticipated races on the programme.

It was a two-man race as Archibald (20.92s) came off the turn just ahead of Williams but the latter found another gear on the homestretch and seemingly inched ahead in the final 60m. However, a desperate lean at the tape saw Archibald completing the double in a photo finish.

In the end both Archibald and Williams ran their personal bests for the half lap event.

400m winner, Arinze Chance placed third in 21.53s

Phillips, exploded to win the 200m women’s final after placing second to the meet’s fastest woman, Barbados based Jovanna Gustave in the marquee women’s 100m.

Phillips who stated post race she has been working tirelessly on her start, clocked 24.19s leading Gustave (24.79s) and Hooper (24.93s) onto the podium.

Hooper (12.71m) however got the better of Chantoba Bright (12.47m) and Princess Browne (12.32m) in the field to win the triple jump event one day after dominating the high jump event.

Barrington (1m: 51.80s) stomped his authority in the two-lap event, taking the spoils ahead of Anfernee Headecker (1m: 54.03s) who won the 1500m. Samuel Lynch placed placed third in 1m:57.63s.

Other winners during the weekend fixture included Keliza Smith (women’s 400m), Joanna Archer (800m), Aliyah Moore (1500m) and Winston Missigher (10,000m).
