A brilliant last over from skipper Devon Paul delivered championship honours for the University of Guyana (UG) over powerhouse Entertainers in the final of the Transcend Entertainment tapeball final on Monday at the Culture Centre tarmac.
Entertainers, needing 11 runs off the final over in pursuit of 33 for victory, were denied by Paul who delivered the decisive final over which only yielded one run and the big scalps of national cricketer Christopher Barnwell and Rawl Merrell, who both failed to score.
Entertainers who were the hot favourites to take the final eventually ended on 25-4 from their allotted three overs with Earl Gilkes (14) being the top scorer.
Earlier, UG, after winning the toss and electing to bat, tactically utilized the fading sunlight and posted 32-4 from their allotted three overs.
