Two sisters and an infant were yesterday afternoon severely chopped about their bodies after a  brother of the sisters, who is said to be mentally unstable went berserk and attacked them at their Moruca, Region One home.

The injured women have been identified as Beverley Cozier and Cynthia Cozier.

Stabroek News understands that the women were chopped about their bodies including to their necks, hands and legs during the incident which took place around 2pm.

Cynthia’s nine-month-old baby, who was in her hand at the time of the attack was also chopped in the head.

They were all rushed to the Suddie Public Hospital, where they remain hospitalised up to press time. Their conditions are listed as critical.

The suspect fled the scene and is yet to be apprehended.

While the circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, Stabroek News understands that the sisters and other family members were at home when the suspect armed himself with two cutlasses and attacked them.

Information reaching this newspaper revealed that the family had been advised on several occasions in the past to approach the police for help to transport the attacker to the hospital for treatment.
