Seven of Guyana’s famed designers displayed striking pieces last Friday evening at the Arts and Wine Fashion Show and they are being talked about as the must-have designs for this year.
Denise Jeggings, Abini, Mwanza Glen, Olancia Howard and Julius, Meleesa Payne-Bishop and Ismay Payne of Expressions Designs showed collections that cater for every occasion and for men and women.
The fashions were as diverse as the designers, modest, dashing, exquisite and bold looks were strutted on the runway. There were women in fishtails, necklines that revealed cleavage, mile long slits and risqué beachwear. There were men in sleek, formal pieces, or revealing ripped bodies half hidden beneath open shirts and close-fitting shorts.
It was also a networking opportunity for young entrepreneurs to market their products. Aside from the array of fabrics and designer pieces, there were, among other things, hair products on display by Radiante Frank and makeup services by Clinton Duncan. Dancer Isaiah Luther showed another side of his creativity as he was responsible for the décor at the show.
In addition, the audience was treated to other items on the programme including a dance by Indira Itwaru.
Raj Raghubeer, Product Development Manager of Xclamation Digital Magazine set to hit the market on August 1, was guest speaker at the event. The magazine will be officially launched on July 31.
Arts and Wine Fashion Show was hosted at the dance studio situated across from John Lewis Styles. The event was sponsored by the Public Utilities Commission.
