There are no new developments in the probe of the murder of 36-year-old Leon Hescott called ‘Dudu’ on Friday night.
Hescott was shot in an abandoned yard in Middle Road, East La Penitence while consuming food. Reports indicate that Hescott was sitting on a chair eating when a man approached him on a bicycle and dealt him a punch and later shot him multiple times after he fell to the floor.
When Stabroek News contacted the police yesterday, this newspaper was told that no updates were available at the time.
In a release, one day after the murder, the police had said that one male suspect was arrested and held for questioning. The release also stated that Hescott had returned to Guyana to conduct renovations on his father’s home in Middle Road and on the night of his murder had left his home with a quantity of foreign currency.
The man is the fifth Hescott brother to be shot dead with his four other brothers being shot and killed in 1996, 1997, 2006 and 2007.
