Three arrested in relation to West Dem armed robbery

Police have arrested three of five suspected bandits who allegedly carried out an armed robbery at Recht-door-Zee, West Bank Demerara on Monday night.

In a release, Police Public Relations Officer Jairam Ramlakhan said that the suspects were arrested approximately 30 minutes after the robbery occurred by ranks of the anti-crime patrol unit.

The men were arrested in Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara. At the time of their arrest, police said they were found to be in possession of cutlasses and a hand gun.

On Monday night at around 7 pm, police said the bandits pounced on a 27-year-old woman of ‘A’ Field, Sophia, Greater Georgetown and two others, as they were along the Recht-door-Zee Public Road. The victim was not named by the police.

She was relieved of jewellery, cash and a cellphone, the majority of which were recovered.

Police are currently on the hunt for two other suspects and investigations are continuing.
