Guyana Police Force ranks on Wednesday destroyed over 25,000 marijuana plants and over 3,000 seedlings after the discovery of three fields in the Upper Berbice River.
According to information from the Police, an eradication exercise was carried out between 5:30 and 6:30 pm by ranks at Kimbia and Kaiuwa, Upper Berbice River.
During the operation, three fields of cultivated marijuana were found with about 25,000 plants ranging from two to seven feet in height, with an estimated weight of 13,000 kg.
A nursery containing 3,000 seedlings, four camps and approximately 35 kg of dried marijuana was also found.
They were photographed and destroyed by fire along with approximately five acres of cultivated marijuana.
