Man jailed for unlawful gun, ammo

Charles Stoby

A three-year sentence was on Thursday handed down to a man who was found guilty of the illegal possession of a gun and ammunition.

Charles Stoby learnt his fate in the courtroom of Magistrate Dylon Bess at the conclusion of his trial.

It was alleged that that on November 5th, 2018, at Alexander Street, Kitty, Stoby had a 9 mm pistol in his possession without being the holder of a firearm licence.

It was also alleged that on the same date and at the same place, he had in his possession two 9 mm rounds.

Stoby denied the allegation during his first court appearance. After being found guilty, he was sentenced to three years on each charge but the sentences are expected to run concurrently, meaning that he will only serve three years in jail.
