An accused burglar is now a remanded prisoner after a city court heard that he was allegedly seen attempting to drive off with over $1 million worth in valuables stolen from the home of his accuser.
Seon Isaacs, 26, of 121 West Ruimveldt Squatting Area, Georgetown, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court 3 on Monday and he was read a break and enter and larceny charge by Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus.
The charge states that on July 12th, he allegedly broke into the home of Sandra Adams at Caneview Avenue, South Ruimveldt and stole $1,400,000 worth in cash, gold, household appliances and electrical devices.
While Isaacs pleaded not guilty to the charge, Police Prosecutor Shellon Daniels told the court that on the day in question Adams arrived home and noticed a car parked in front of her lot. Daniels said the car drove off and Adams could see from the trunk, which was open, appliances stuffed inside. Some public-spirited persons chased after the car and eventually got it to stop. The court heard that Isaacs was seen in the car and admitted to the crimes in his caution statement. The stolen appliances were returned to Adams.
Daniels objected to bail being granted and Isaacs was remanded to prison until July 29th.
