A 63-year-old man was yesterday morning sentenced to 20 years behind bars after he pleaded guilty to forcing a four-year-old girl to perform oral sex on him.
Gregory Ramkissoon, called ‘Skeage,’ committed the crime on January 4th, 2016.
Prior to sentencing him yesterday at the Sexual Offences Court in Georgetown, Justice Simone Morris-Ramlall, who presided over the case, noted that she had considered both the nature and gravity of the offence, and the tender age of the child who has forever lost her innocence.
The judge underscored that it was a gross act of oral penetration and she told him that the offence of rape which he committed carries a maximum term of imprisonment for life. The judge, however, commenced the sentence at 35 years. Therefrom, she made deductions for the offender’s guilty plea, while informing him that would be sentenced to 20 years in prison.
The judge further ordered that Ramkissoon is to spend 15 full years behind bars before he becomes eligible for parole.
Ramkissoon was represented by attorney Ravindra Mohabir.
The state’s case, meanwhile, was presented by prosecutor Sarah Martin, in association with Tuanna Hardy and Teriq Mohammed.
