Uitvlugt were crowned the Hamilton Green Inter-Ward nine-a-side champions Sunday after they defeated defending champions Charlestown on sudden penalty kicks at the Den Amstel Community Centre ground.
Locked 0-0 at the end of regulation and extra time, the match which was a rematch of last year’s final, ended 1-0 in favour of the West Demerara outfit.
Jamal Harvey scored the winning goal as Jermin Junior sealed Charlestown’s defeat when he fired his effort over the crossbar.
With the win, Uitvlugt pocketed $300,000 and the John Fernandes trophy while the dethroned champions walked away with the second place prize of $100,000 and the Courtney Benn trophy.
The champions and runners-up will receive hampers compliments of Ricks & Sari Ltd. Adrian Aaron of Bourda Blues, with five goals, won the award for the player with the most goals.
Also, Sese Norville of Bourda Blues walked away with the Best Goalkeeper title. He received a Lazy-boy Chair and a trophy.
Nickel Whyte received the Most Improved Goalkeeper award. He was also presented with a Lazy-boy Chair.
