Teen injured after truck accident along Ituni trail

A teenager is nursing abdominal injuries following an accident along the Ituni Trail, in Region Ten, on Monday.

Police yesterday said Randy James, 15, of Kuru Kururu, Soesdyke-Linden Highway, was injured after the truck he was sitting in crashed into a piece of lumber that was on a parked truck.

Investigations revealed that James suffered injuries to his right shoulder and rib cage. He was taken to the Linden Hospital Complex, where he was seen and examined by a doctor on duty and received medical attention. James, police said, was later transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital, where he was admitted as a patient for broken right shoulder and rib cage.

According to information provided, James and Dhaniram Persaud, the truck driver of motor truck GSS 6179 with trailer TXX 8434, were traveling along the trail. During the journey, they stopped at a broad part of the said trail to carry out a checkup and freshen up. Just after the driver exited the truck, the truck started moving forward and collided with a lumber that was on a parked lorry, GVV 7479.

An investigation has been launched and is currently ongoing.
