Jamaican: ‘One Don’ gang busted, 24 members for court today

(Jamaica Observer) Twenty-four members of the St Catherine-based One Don Gang — a breakaway faction of the notorious Klansman Gang — are scheduled to appear in the Supreme Court today The 24 alleged gangsters, including one woman, are among 33 people who were arrested during recent police raids, and are said to be responsible for more than 30 murders, including the death of a policeman.

Private sector ups pressure on President Granger

Criticising President David Granger for actions taken since the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) found that the December 21, 2018 no-confidence motion against his government was valid, the Private Sector Com-mission (PSC) yesterday called on him to act in accordance with the court’s rulings.

Final list of GECOM chair nominees still to be sorted

Gov’t ashamed for Cabinet including President to go through act of resigning

Dear Editor, The government’s statement issued on the 13th July, 2019, following the consequential Orders issued by the Caribbean Court of Justice on the 12th July, 2019, first accepted that it is an “interim government” but rejected the Constitutional requirement for the Cabinet including the President to resign by stating “Cabinet has not stopped functioning …” It is important to note also that in the government’s statement, with its acceptance that it is an “interim government”, it completely ignored the “caretaker” title which was specifically referenced even before the “interim” title by the CCJ ruling at paragraph 8 of the consequential Orders where it stated “(T)he government continues in office as a caretaker government or an interim government …”.

Police force hands out awards for good work in moneychanger murder, other cases

Yesterday,  the Guyana Police Force (GPF) made cash awards to community groups and its members for good work including on the murder case involving moneychanger Aaron Latchman and his daughter Arian  The GPF in a press release said that this year it has awarded some 19.5 million dollars to its ranks in the form of incentives, some of which were as a result of hard work and dedication of ranks across the force, relating to successes in solving cases dating back to 2014 and as recent as the robbery/murder of moneychanger Latchman and his daughter in July 4, 2019.
