The 6th annual New Era Entertainment/Mohamed’s Enterprise Futsal tournament was launched yesterday at the latter’s Lombard Street headquarters.
The event, which is set to commence on July 26th at the Mackenzie Sports Club [MSC] hard-court, Linden, will feature 18 teams divided into four groups.
Group-A consists of West Side Ballers, Nutt-man All-Stars, LA Ballers and Hard-Knocks, while Young Achievers, Capital Strikers, Germans United and West Side Connection comprises group-B
Group-C features Silver Bullets, High Rollers, Red Line and Higher Level, while group-D contains Capital Storm, NK Ballers, Quiet Storm, Trend-Setters and Dave & Celina’s All-Stars.
The event will be played initially in a round-robin format, with the top two finishers from each section progressing to the quarterfinals stage.
A trophy and $600,000 will be awarded to the winning team with the second, third and fourth place finishers copping $250,000, $100,000 and $50,000 respectively.
Managing Director of Mohamed’s Enterprise, Nazar Mohamed, said, “It is really an honour to be associated with New Era in this Futsal competition for six years.
“We (Mohamed’s Enterprise) have been the main sponsors of the Kashif and Shanghai tournament for over three decades and it is an honour and it is with great pleasure that we associate ourselves with this New Era group and we will continue to do so for many years to come,” he added.
Meanwhile, Kenrick Noel, Co-Director of New Era Entertainment thanked the company for its continued support.
These sentiments were echoed by fellow Co-Director Aubrey Major Jr, who added that the organizing committee intends to expand the event by including teams from the Ituni, Kwakwani and Soesdyke environs.
