Machinery Corporation of Guyana (MACORP) is offering its world accredited online training programme, ‘Technicians for the Caribbean’ free of cost to Region 9 residents, especially the youths, the Department of Public Information (DPI) reported yesterday.
Villagers of Annai were introduced to the programme by MACORP Training Director, Miguel Oviedo at the Bina Hill Institute. He was part of a team consisting of Minister of Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs, Sydney Allicock, Member of Parliament (MP), Mervyn Williams and Guyana’s High Commissioner to India, David Pollard, who recently visited the area.
According to Oviedo, the Caterpillar machinery training course can be tapped through any internet-connected device throughout the year, enabling persons to acquire a technician’s certificate that is internationally recognised.
Upon completion of the course, successful participants will be selected to take part in an in-house training session at MACORP on the East Bank of Demerara. These students will be instructed and certified while gaining experience.
