(Trinidad Guardian) A Chaguanas businessman was murdered in El Socorro yesterday morning moments after he dropped his wife to work. Shiraz Ali, 52, of Edinburgh 500, was shot dead as he sat in his white Mazda station wagon on Boundary Road Extension.
Ali dropped his wife off at Flavorite Foods Limited at around 6.30am. As he drove past the Aranguez North Secondary School a car pulled alongside him and one of the occupants opened fire, killing him.
In another early morning shooting, Nigel Bellot was killed at his home on Carr Lane, Belmont.
According to reports, the 55-year-old man was in his bedroom with his girlfriend when he heard a banging noise at his door. When he opened the door, a gunman shot him multiple times about the body. He died at the scene.
Police say Bellot had been deported back to T&T a few years ago but was not known to them.
