Defending champion Gold is Money suffered their first loss while Sparta Boss, Leopold Street, Albouystown-B and Tiger Bay sealed their places in the knockout round when the Guinness ‘Greatest of the Street’ Georgetown Championship group round continued on Saturday.

The historic return to the Berlin tarmac after a 10-year absence was well supported by the surrounding environs as hundreds swarmed to the venue and witnessed several thrilling matches.

The highlight of the evening was the unlikely result as Gold is Money went down to previous winner Broad Street 4-3 on penalty kicks, after regulation time ended scoreless.

Meanwhile, former champions Sparta Boss, Leopold Street and Tiger Bay alongside traditional giant Albouystown-B had no such difficulty, as they stormed into the quarterfinal round with a game to spare.

Sparta Boss came from behind to defeat Charlotte Street 4-1. Curtez Kellman registered a ‘Guinness Goal’ (GG) [a goal scored in the final three minutes of regulation and extra time counts as two] in the 18th minute.

Contributing goals in the 14th and 16th minute were Ryan Hackett and Sheldon Shepherd respectively. For the losers, Windell Allison netted in the fourth minute.

Similarly, Tiger Bay mauled Albouystown-A 4-0. Solomon Austin recorded a (GG) in the 19th minute. Adding goals in the fourth and ninth minute were Jason Fredericks and Keoma Gravesande respectively.

On the other hand, Leopold Street needled Future Stars 1-0. Talisman Okeene Fraser scored in the 13th minute while Albouystown-B edged Alexander Village 1-0. Lennox Cort made his presence felt in the eighth minute.

 In other results, LA Ballers downed John Street 2-1, while North East La Penitence squeaked past Sophia 3-2 and Back Circle bested Rising Stars 2-1.

 The round robin stage will conclude on July 26th. The top two finishers from each section will advance to the quarterfinal and subsequent semi-final round.

 Winner of the event will collect $500,000 and the championship trophy, with the second, third and fourth place finisher copping $300,000, $200,000 and $100,000 respectively and the corresponding trophy.
