A decision is expected today on the wounding charge against Revelana Smith, who is accused of attacking fellow inmate Savita Persaud.
It is alleged that on April 23rd, at the East La Penitence Police Station, Smith unlawfully assaulted Persaud.
During yesterday’s court proceedings, Smith heard that the court will make a ruling on the matter today.
Magistrate McGusty stated that subsequent to the conclusion of Smith’s trial, the court will commence hearing the assault charge against Persaud, who is accused of attacking Smith.
It has been alleged that the two women were verbally attacking each other for a while and their altercation became physical after Smith called Persaud obscene names and a fight ensued. Persaud suffered punches to the face and chest, while Smith suffered a scratch to the left arm.
Smith, of 88 William Street, Kitty, is also facing an attempted murder charge. The charge alleges that Smith, on March 26, at Pike Street, Kitty, wounded Renetta Bharrat with the intent to commit murder.
