The Ministry of Finance on Sunday donated an outboard engine to the Department of Education of Region No. 2, Pomeroon-Supenaam to be used on the David ‘G’ Boat which serves the students in the Lower-Pomeroon area.
According to a Ministry of Education release, Minister of Finance, Winston Jordan who handed over the engine to the Regional Education Officer (REdO), Nicola Matthews, said that while in the region last year it was brought to his attention that the David ‘G’ Boat was borrowing an engine and needed one of its own.
As such, his Ministry purchased the 200 Horse Power Yamaha engine at a cost of about $4.3M.
Minister of Education, Dr Nicolette Henry thanked the Ministry of Finance for partnering with her ministry.
Prior to the handing-over ceremony that was held at the Regional Democratic Council’s compound, both Ministers engaged residents of Hackney Village, located along the Pomeroon River at the Hackney Primary School.
