The body of an Upper Pomeroon River boat captain who went missing was found in the river in the vicinity of Siriki and Jacklow Villages, Upper Pomeroon on Tuesday.
Kendol Rodriguez of Kabakaburi Village, Upper Pomeroon, went missing on Sunday after the boat he was travelling in, capsized.
According to information provided by the police, Joseph Thomas, 42, also of Kabakaburi was the only other occupant.
Police disclosed that according to preliminary investigations, it was gathered that Rodriguez reportedly began to steer the boat from left to right in a manner that caused it to capsize. As a result both men fell into the river and Rodriguez went missing.
Thomas told police he was rescued by a passing boat. He said he was holding on to the side of the boat that capsized.
A search for Rodriguez was undertaken but the search party’s efforts were futile.
