A Tain Settlement motorcyclist died on Thursday evening after he collided with a hire car along the Clifton, Corentyne Public Road.
Ramdat Yadram, 46, a market vendor, of Lot 165 Block 14 Tain Settlement, Corentyne, was rushed to the Port Mourant Hospital, where he eventually succumbed to his injuries.
The pillion rider, Nichola Mangar, 20, of Lot 24 Tain Settlement, Corentyne, has since been transferred to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, where she is admitted in a stable condition.
Stabroek News was told that around 9.15 pm on Thursday, Yadram was proceeding north along the Clifton Public Road on motorcyle CJ 1009 and reportedly failed to stop, then proceeded across the road, after which he turned right on the main road, where he collided with the oncoming hire car, HC 5542, which was being driven by a Canefield, East Canje Berbice resident.
Up to yesterday afternoon, the hire car driver remained in police custody assisting with the investigation. He was administered a breathalyser test and no alcohol was found in his breath.
