Kacey Chapman, one of three men jointly charged with illegal possession of guns and ammunition, was yesterday found guilty of the crime.
The charges against Chapman’s co-defendants, Sheldon Andrews and Adam McDonald had previously been dismissed after presiding Magistrate Rondell Weaver found that the prosecutor failed to make out a case against them.
According to the charges, on November 26th, 2018, at High and Princes streets, Chapman had a .32 Taurus pistol in his possession while not being a licensed firearm holder. On the same date, he also had a 9mm Glock pistol without being a licensed firearm holder.
The two other charges stated that on November 26th, 2018, at High and Princes streets, Chapman had in his possession, 12 live 9mm rounds of ammunition and 7 live rounds of .32 ammunition, without being a licensed firearm holder. The gun and ammunition were found under the front seat of a car driven by Chapman.
During yesterday’s court hearing, Chapman, who, on a previous court date, led his defence in the matter, heard that the court found him guilty of the crimes.
His sentencing was, however, deferred until September 6th, when a probation report is to be presented.
