Gold is Money, Albouystown-B in Guinness football final

Defending champion Gold is Money and Albouystown-B on Friday night advanced to the final of the Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ Georgetown Championship, which was underway up to press time last night. Results will be published in tomorrow’s edition.

On Friday night, a mammoth crowd flocked to the National Cultural Centre’s tarmac and witnessed an exhibition in tactical football as Gold is Money downed former winner Broad Street 2-0.

In the space of two minutes, Gold is Money sealed their second consecutive finals appearance after two goals were recorded by Jermin Junior and Randolph Wagner respectively.

Junior broke the deadlock in the 17th minute following a scoreless first half, with Wagner applying the final nail in the coffin in the 19th minute.

On the other hand, Albouystown-B sealed their maiden finals appearance, edging Sophia by a 3-2 scoreline.

Lennox Cort fashioned a double in the ninth and 18th minute while Marlon Nedd added to the scoreline in the 21st minute. For the loser, Dwayne Lowe tallied a ‘Guinness Goal’ (GG) – a goal scored in the final three minutes of normal and extra time counts as two – in the 28th minute.

Prior to the semifinal round, Gold is Money and Albouystown clinched quarterfinal wins against Tiger Bay and Back Circle respectively.

Gold is Money defeated Tiger Bay 2-0. Wagner tallied a double in the ninth and 20th minute.
