Hard-Knocks, Germans, NK Ballers and Achievers secured wins when the 6th edition of the New Era Entertainment/Mohamed’s Enterprise Futsal Tournament continued on Friday.
Hosted at the Mackenzie Sports Club (MSC) ground tarmac, Linden, a large gathering witnessed Hard-Knocks edging North East 6-5.
Pernell Schultz fashioned a hat-trick while Colin Nelson added a double alongside a Clive Nobrega conversion. For the loser, Keifer Brandt tallied a hat-trick while Calvin Moore and Shaquille Browne scored one goal apiece.
The aforementioned scoreline highlighted the trend of the evening as several teams secured hard fought results.
Achievers downed West Side Connection 6-5.
Similarly, NK Ballers overcame Trend-Setters 2-1. Rawle Gittens and Keon Sears scored in the win, while Delon Luke netted for the loser.
On the other hand, Germans mauled Haynes Hitters 5-1. Orlanzo Thurman bagged a double, while Mortimer Giddings, Romaine Adams and Stephon Tappin scored one goal each. Runic Velloza scored for the loser.
Also, Silver Bullets defeated Red Line 3-0. Kendolph Lewis, Clifford Halley and Jeshawn Freeman scored.
The event resumes today at the same venue with another round of group matches.
Red Line will oppose Royal Achievers at 19:20hrs, with North East battling LA Ballers from 20:15hrs and West Side Connection engaging Capital Strikers at 21:00hrs.
In the fourth clash, West Side Ballers takes aim at Hard-Knocks from 21:45hrs and Capital Storm clashes with Trend-Setters at 22:30hrs. In the final match, Quiet Storm will tackle Dave & Celina All-Stars from 11:20hrs.
The 18-team competition is being played in an initial round-robin format, with the top two finishers from each section progressing to the quarterfinals stage.
Group A consists of Nutt-man All-Stars, LA Ballers and Hard-Knocks, while Young Achievers, Capital Strikers, Germans United and West Side Connection comprises Group B.
Group C features Silver Bullets, High Rollers, Red Line and Higher Level, while Group D contains Capital Storm, NK Ballers, Quiet Storm, Trend-Setters and Dave & Celina’s All-Stars.
$600,000 and a trophy will be awarded to the winner, with the second, third and fourth place finishers copping $250,000, $100,000 and $50,000 respectively.
