Closing arguments due in Timehri Docks murder inquiry

Rickland Bovell

Two weeks after a court found that a case was made out against Rickland Bovell, the cabbage farmer accused of fatally stabbing 18-year-old David Toney at the Timehri Docks in April, the defence reopened its case for a final witness.

When the Preliminary Inquiry (PI) into the murder charge against Bovell resumed yesterday, Bovell’s attorney, who during the last court hearing called the defendant’s father and brother as witnesses and then closed the defence’s case, made a request to have the case reopened. The attorney informed the court that this request was to facilitate the defence calling the defendant’s mother, Ann Bovell, to testify.
