Drivers in West Berbice fatal accident plead guilty to drunk driving

The two drivers who were allegedly racing along the Number 41 Village, West Coast Berbice Public Road,  resulting in the death of pedestrian, Gregory Stanley, have been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

The two drivers appeared at the Fort Wellington Magistrate’s Court, where they pleaded  guilty to the charge and were placed on $300,000 bail. They were ordered to lodge their passports and return today, August 7, for sentencing.

A police source told Stabroek News, that other charges are expected to be instituted against the drivers when they return to court.
