Defending champion Gold is Money will oppose East Coast Demerara winner Melanie-B, while West Demerara holders Brothers United tackles Sparta Boss in the semifinal round of the Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ National Championships following quarterfinal wins on Friday.

Staged at the Jubilee Park Tarmac in front of a large crowd, Gold is Money once again displayed their championship credentials, dismissing the challenge of Paradise-A 3-0.

The recently crowned two-time Georgetown champion earned their place in the semifinal round following goals from siblings Randolph Wagner and Hubert Pedro.

 Wagner opened the scoring in the fifth minute while Pedro recorded a ‘Guinness Goal’ (GG) (a goal scored in the final three minutes of regulation and extra time counts as two) in the 19th minute.

On the other hand, their opponent Melanie-B edged Albouystown-B 1-0 on penalty kicks after regulation and extra time ended scoreless.

Meanwhile, Brothers United upset Leopold Street 2-0.  Andrew Murray Jr., tallied a (GG) in the 25th minute to deal the result. 

They will now match skills with Sparta Boss who overcame Broad Street 3-2 on penalty kicks following a 0-0 score at the end of normal and extra time.

In the earlier round of 16 matches, Gold is Money arrested Bartica Police 3-0 while Melanie-B needled Showstoppers 1-0.

Likewise, Brothers United downed Sophia 1-0, Sparta Boss brushed aside Beacons 3-0,  Paradise-A crushed Up-Top-Bosses 6-2, and  Albouystown-B squeaked past Ballers Empire 1-0.

 In the final two results of the section, Leopold Street and Broad Street defeated High Rollers and Trafalgar respectively by 2-0 scores.
