City Engineer Colvern Venture has been recalled from his leave following a request by the Mayor Ubraj Narine to the Local Government Commission (LGC).
Acting Town Clerk Sherry Jerrick at yesterday’s statutory meeting, informed the council of a correspondence from the LGC granting approval of the Mayor’ request.
Narine had written to the commission requesting that Venture return to his office and properly hand over the duties and responsibilities of his office to the officer that will be acting in his position.
The mayor stated in his correspondence to the LGC, that there was no written handover to the person in his department who will be acting for him.
This issue, Commission Chairman Mortimer Mingo said, is viewed by the commission as an important and substantive issue, since it is crucial for there to be documentation.
Jerrick informed the council that she has communicated this development to Venture. He has responded to her that he is currently out of the jurisdiction until the end of August and will resume duties upon his return later this month.
