The annual Osmond Cummings Memorial Football Championship will officially commence on Sunday at the Silvertown ground, Linden from 10:00am.
The event, which is in its eight edition, is named after former Botofago president Osmond Cummings.
A highlight of the schedule is a women’s clash at 13:00hrs. The hosts, Botafago, lock horns with a Select XI emanating from Linden. Meanwhile, the main attraction at 16:00hrs will pit Botofago against newcomer Capital FC.
According to an official release from the club, back home for the celebration is arguably Botafago’s finest player Nigel ‘Mice’ Cummings, who is the brother of Osmond, along with another brother, Wilbert, who all played for Botafago before migrating. ‘Mice’, a former Senior National player, said several trophies and medals are at stake for the various competitions which starts with the Under-15 championship involving Botafago FC, Eagles United, Rickland Hutson Leadership Academy and a team from Buxton. Admission to the venue is free.
