The man who succumbed after being struck last month along the La Penitence Public Road has been identified as an 80-year-old resident of McDoom Public Road, East Bank Demerara.
Police spokesman Jairam Ramlakhan said James Lord was positively identified on Friday afternoon by his son and wife.
The accident occurred around 9.45am on July 5th.
Lord succumbed on July 15th while receiving medical attention at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH).
The police had said their investigations revealed that Lord, who was a pedestrian at the time, was standing on the western side of the road, waiting to cross.
At the same time, a minibus, BSS 2498, driven by a-53 year-old of resident of Block X Cornelia Ida, West Coast Demerara, was approaching.
While in the vicinity of Twins Pharmacy and Snackette, Lord proceeded to cross the road and ended up into the path of the minibus and came into contact with left side wing mirror.
The driver of the minibus picked up Lord, who was in an unconscious state, and rushed him to the GPH, where he was seen and examined by a doctor and admitted on that day to the Intensive Care Unit.
The driver has since been released on station bail.
A relative of Lord yesterday told Sunday Stabroek that he was last seen alive on the day of the accident, when he left home for an unknown destination.
The man said after Lord did not return home, the family became worried and several checks were made for him but these were unsuccessful.
A missing person report was subsequently made to the police.
The man added that the family only learnt that the victim was Lord after the police issued a second appeal to the public last Thursday seeking help in identifying Lord. An autopsy is expected to be conducted sometime in the new week.
