One man is now dead and four others are injured after the pick-up they were travelling in toppled while speeding along a trail at Tipuru, Mazaruni River, on Sunday afternoon.
Carlos David, 31, of Four and Half Miles Bartica, succumbed to his injuries while on his way to the Bartica Hospital.
Those injured has been identified as Emmanuel Williams, 28, Denzil Lindore, 24, Chris Williams, 27 and Wesley Rodrigues, 27, all of Bartica.
They were all rushed to the said hospital, where Emmanuel Williams and Lindore were treated and discharged, while Chris Williams and Rodrigues were admitted. Their conditions are listed as stable.
The accident occurred around 4.35 pm while the men were all travelling in a pick-up, GLL 1388, which was driven by David.
David was reportedly proceeding south along the western side of the trail, at a fast rate, when he swerved to avoid a pothole. As a result, he lost control of the vehicle and the vehicle subsequently turned turtle.
