Guyana’s CAC bronze medallist duo Taylor Fernandes and Ashley Khalil have secured a place in the final of the women’s doubles category of the ongoing Senior Caribbean Singles and Doubles Championships (CASA) after day two action ended last evening at the Georgetown Club Squash Court.
Khalil and Fernandes who drew a first-round bye, accounted for Trinidadian duo Marie Barcant and Jaime Edghill in the semis. It was a clinical showing by the Guyanese pair who won 11-0, 11-7. They are set to play Bajans Meagan Best and Amanda Heywood in what is expected to be a thriller today.
On the singles side of the court, Richard Chin, Guyana’s lone remaining male player in the draw, reached the semi-finals of the male singles category after defeating Jamaican Bruce Burrows in a hard-fought match 11-8, 13-11, 4-11, 11-7. He was set to face Stafford Cameron in the semi-final late last evening.
Meanwhile, Nicolette Fernandes booked her place in the semis after accounting for Larissa Wiltshire 11-2, 11-2, 11-3. Nicolette Fernandes was set to face off against her countrywoman Mary Fung – A – Fat last evening after the latter disposed of Charlotte Knaggs 11-4, 11-5, 11-8 in the quarters.
Taylor Fernandes on the other hand was also successful in booking her place in the semis after an 11-3, 3-11, 12-10, 11-9 win over Amanda Heywood. She was set to faced tournament favourite Meagan Best in last evening semis. Those results were not available as of press time.
