Kevin Allicock, the Albouystown youth who police say shot at a City Constable after being caught while trying to break into the Bourda Market, is now a remanded prisoner.
Allicock, 25, of 32 James Street, Albouys-town, was charged yesterday with discharging a loaded firearm at City Constable Brent Walcott on August 15th at Orange Walk, Bourda.
He was only released on bail for another charge days before he allegedly committed the new offence. The charge, read to him by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan in a city court, states that he discharged a loaded firearm at Walcott with intent to wound, disfigure or cause grievous bodily harm.
However, Allicock, a fisherman, told the court he was not in possession of a gun when he was arrested. He further informed that he was not aware of the firearm charge until after he was in custody.
Police prosecutor Gordon Mansfield reported that on the day in question, Walcott noticed Allicock attempting to scale the fence at Bourda Market. Walcott raised an alarm, which made Allicock jump from the fence. However, Allicock then allegedly pulled out a gun and discharged three rounds aimed in the direction of the City constable.
Walcott was armed with his service weapon at the time and returned fire. Allicock reportedly escaped but the police were informed of his whereabouts and he was found shortly after, hiding under a bridge in the vicinity of Hadfield Street.
The court was also told of a pending charge against Allicock. It is alleged that on April 17th, Allicock unlawfully and maliciously wounded Joshua Baker in the vicinity of Georgetown.
After receiving the information about the previous charge, the Chief magistrate remanded Allicock until September 11th, when his matters will continue in Court 5.
