A breakage of a 14-inch main at Cemetery Road

A breakage of a 14-inch main at Cemetery Road, resulted in the disruption of the water supply to Central Georgetown and its environs yesterday. Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) said its technicians worked throughout Thursday night to repair the main. The situation was not rectified until yesterday afternoon. GWI spokesperson Leana Bradshaw told this newspaper that because the main was over a canal next to the cemetery, the company had to create two revetment dams, using nine truckloads of dirt, and pump out the water before it could assess exactly what had to be done.
