A file in relation to a vehicular accident which occurred in May that claimed the life of an 18-year-old some two months later, has been sent for legal advice.
Eighteen-year-old Bariel Hall succumbed three weeks ago to injuries which he suffered as a result of an accident which occurred along Avenue of the Republic, in the vicinity of the Route 44 bus park on May 25th. Hall was subsequently admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital and remained there as a patient for over two months. He never regained consciousness.
When Stabroek News contacted Traffic Chief, Linden Isles, he explained that the file in relation to the matter was prepared and sent to the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.
Hall at the time of the accident was making his way home from a J’Ouvert hosted during the Guyana Carnival season. A post-mortem examination was conducted and it disclosed that the teen died as a result of multiple complications related to injuries stemming from the accident.
The teen’s parents have made several pleas for justice and have expressed their dissatisfaction with the progress of the investigation. Barrington Hall, Bariel’s father, had previously told Stabroek News that he was informed that subsequent to the accident, the car in question was hidden and the registration plates removed.
Stabroek News had previously reported that immediately after the accident, the driver did not stop and render any assistance to the teen. However he was later arrested, taken into police custody and released on station bail. The teen had sustained a broken left leg along with injuries to his head and about his body.
