Guyana’s Winston Forrester continues to excel recently guiding Novo CC to championship honours in the US Cricket League summer T20 tournament.
Novo defeated Sparks Cricket Club by nine wickets on the back of an unbeaten 50 from the Guyanese. Sparks, who batted first, compiled 115 for six before their 20 overs expired.
Runs came from the lower order as Mikky Gumber (30) and Krishna Vagvala (23) finished unbeaten at the end where Ashish Singal grabbed 3-18 from his complement of four overs.
Nova in response, hunted down the target in 9.4 overs as Forrester (56) hammered three sixes and the same amount of fours while sharing in a century opening stand with Vatsa Joshi (50) to ease their side to the title.
Meanwhile, former national youth player Shaquille Williams, who is playing in the Massachusetts State Cricket 40 overs League, struck match winning century for Golden Eagles during their win over St Columbas CC.
St Columbas CC batted first and posted 171 before being dismissed in the 37th over. Divyesh Paten (43) top scored as Williams nabbed 3-18 with his useful off spin while Nitin Mewada (3-39) gave support.
Eagles in their turn at the crease, successfully reached their target of 174-2 inside 30 overs on the back of a cracking century from Williams who ended unbeaten on 104 after carving out 10 fours and four maximums.
He has so far tallied 261 runs from five outings, at an average of 87 and a strike rate of just under a run a ball. He also has two half centuries to go along with his recent ton. His bowling has produced seven wickets at an economy of 3.78 runs per over.
