GRDB awards bursaries to children of rice farmers

The Guyana Rice Development Board (GRDB) yesterday awarded bursaries to eleven rice farmers’ children who were successful at the 2019 National Grade Six Examinations.

A release from the GRDB said that the recipients of the award were from Regions 2, 3, and 5.

The award includes an allowance for five consecutive years to the awardees during their secondary school studies. GRDB also presented the recipients with school bags, exercise books and pens, the release said.

Since its establishment in 1995, the release said that the GRDB has been awarding children of rice farmers, exporters, millers and employees who have successfully completed the National Grade Six Examinations as it values the contribution of the stakeholders to the rice industry.

Nizam Hassan, General Manager and Gloria Chester, Marketing Assistant both congratulated the recipients on their achievement and charged the students to work hard, the release added.

Kareena Persaud and  Umashankar Singh expressed appreciation on behalf of the awardees for the bursaries.
