Blairmont Cricket Club were yesterday defeated by 172 runs at the hands of the Georgetown Cricket Club in their under-15 encounter at the Bourda Ground.
Winning the toss and electing to bat, GCC piled up 233-8 in their allotted 40 overs before returning with ball in hand to bowl out the Berbice unit for 61 in 37.3 overs.
GCC were indebted to top scorer, Dominic Roberts who played the anchor role with 83 consisting of 11 fours and a single six.
Roberts partnered with Thaddeus Lovell to put on 98 for the first wicket before Lovell fell for 34 via run out.
He was then joined by West Indies youth batsman, Mavindra Dindyal who made 16 in his short stint at the crease. With the fall of these two batsmen, only Ariyan Singh with an unbeaten 23 made a significant contribution.
Zahid Baksh was the pick of the bowlers, returning 4-48 while Zeynul Ramsammy and Sheerdat Rupnarine claimed two wickets each.
In the chase, Ramsammy was the only batsman to reach double figures with 25. Dindyal and Persaud picked up two wickets each for eight and three runs respectively.
