A robber was shot by the police yesterday morning after he and an accomplice attempted to rob a man at Windsor Estate, Providence, East Bank Demerara.
The injured man, whose identity remains unknown, is currently warded at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) under police guard, while his accomplice was taken into custody.
Sunday Stabroek was told that the duo attempted to rob a man who managed to elude them around 11 am. The man rushed into his house and reportedly contacted the police.
Upon arrival at the scene, the police and the robbers were engaged in an exchange of gunfire, during which one of the robbers was struck.
