Two men who were accused of stealing $1 million in cash and items from a city store were on Tuesday sentenced to a year in prison for the crime.
It is alleged that Deon Brown and Trevin Alleyne between April 26th and April 27th, broke and entered the business place of Vivekanand Ramotar, located at Regent Road, Bourda, and stole a quantity of motor vehicle accessories as well as $500,000, with the total loss amounting to $1 million.
The duo were on trial before Magistrate Annette Singh.
On Tuesday when the matter came to an end the duo learnt that they were found guilty and that they were both sentenced to a year behind bars for the crime. However, it was noted that the time the defendants would have already served would be deducted from the year’s sentence they received.
