Nineteen-year-old Afghanistan leg spinner, Qais Ahmad is set to replace Saurabh Netravalkar in the Guyana Amazon Warriors squad for the 2019 HERO Caribbean Premier League.
It was confirmed by management of the Amazon Warriors that prior to the start of their season, Netravalkar was made unavailable due to selection in the United States of America team.
Ahmad, who turned out for the St. Lucia Stars last season will now join the team but is yet to be confirmed at what stage of the tournament. Ahmad had been booked to join the team but had also been selected for his national team thus forcing him to divert from joining the Warriors in camp.
However, it was confirmed that Ahmad will “most likely join the team after the first three matches at home [for the Warriors].”
The teenager who gained popularity in the ‘biggest party in sport’ for doing a reverse somersault after taking a wicket has taken 35 scalps in 27 matches with a best of 5-18 and is currently playing in his debut Test match against Bangladesh.
Ahmad also represents Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League.
The Warriors have also enlisted the services of veteran leggy, Imran Tahir who will replace Shadab Khan after the first three matches in Guyana.
