Students of Grades 9 and 10 will have an opportunity to win various prizes in the Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry/ BrainCentral Math and English online Olympiad this month.
A release from the two sponsors said that the competition is being held in commemoration of Education Month and will see media support from the National Communications Network.
Students and parents are asked to go to the website www.braincentral.online to sign up for the competition and review the rules. They will have access to thousands of questions to practice for the online and live rounds, scheduled for September 21 and September 28 respectively.
Schools are also encouraged to participate. The release said that group registration is being facilitated and details of the group members can be sent to marketing@gbtibank.com or lance.hinds@brainstreetgroup.com
During the preliminary round set for September 21, 2019, competitors will be required to log in at a particular time. For this round participants will compete from a location of their choice – home, school or wherever they have internet access.
The ten students with the highest average scores on the online tests will participate in the final live round, to be held at the Arthur Chung Convention Centre on September 28 at 1 pm.
Participants must be in Grades 9 or 10 and must complete the online competition without assistance from others.
Prizes, the release said, include a computer and printer, tablets and GBTI Early Savers Accounts Gift Certificates.
BrainCentral, the release said, is an online educational portal for students from Grades 1 to 11. At the moment, the portal is offering thousands of quizzes at the various grades which students can use as practice.
