(Trinidad Guardian) The 30-year-old suspect wanted for the murder of Trinidad-born Kiara Alleyne, 20, at her home in Florida on Wednesday has been receiving medical care after he was found seriously injured by Marion County homicide officers and had to be airlifted from the area where he was located.
According to Marion County officers, the suspect was found in the Florida Keys on Wednesday morning and airlifted to Ryder Trauma Center in Miami with burns to the arms in what they described as a “bizarre series of events that began with a burglary call.”
Alleyne was found dead in her Ocala home earlier Wednesday morning by Marion County Sheriff’s Office Deputies.
The suspect’s capture in Monroe County began when the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office 911 Communications Specialists received a home burglary call at 69401 Overseas Highway on Long Key just north of the town of Layton at about 10 am on Wednesday.
Responding Deputies received a video of the suspect and car.
But deputies did not know they were looking for the suspect at that time.
Shortly after a be-on-the-lookout was issued, another 911 call came in, with the reporting person stating a man was screaming that his car blew up and that he was burnt.
Only moments thereafter, a third 911 call came in of a fire at an adjacent property at 57336 Overseas Highway very near the Edgewater Road property.
A car was engulfed and caught the stilted 57336 home on fire as well. The car was a Mazda CX7 sport utility vehicle, the same car Marion County officials reported was being driven by the suspect.
Deputies quickly identified the man as both the burglary suspect and Alleyne’s murder suspect, given he was wanted out of Marion County.
The suspect’s burns were deemed serious and Marathon Fire Rescue paramedics took him to the Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit hangar at the Florida Keys Marathon International Airport where he was airlifted to Miami.
The suspect is expected to be served with the warrant out of Marion County and will be charged with the Long Key burglary.
He could also face more charges.
Alleyne, 20, was the mother of one, a one-year-old girl and was originally from Point Fortin.
On Wednesday the Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) received a call for service from a family member concerned for Alleyne’s well being.
Upon arrival, the MCSO detectives found the victim, Alleyene dead in her home.
Before Alleyne was found dead, the suspect posted a Facebook message professing his love for her.
He later posted another cryptic message signalling the end of her life.
