Florida man suspected of killing Trinidad woman set himself on fire

(Trinidad Guardian) The 30-year-old sus­pect want­ed for the mur­der of Trinidad-born Kiara Al­leyne, 20, at her home in Flori­da on Wednes­day has been re­ceiv­ing med­ical care af­ter he was found se­ri­ous­ly in­jured by Mar­i­on Coun­ty homi­cide of­fi­cers and had to be air­lift­ed from the area where he was lo­cat­ed.

Ac­cord­ing to Mar­i­on Coun­ty of­fi­cers, the sus­pect was found in the Flori­da Keys on Wednes­day morn­ing and air­lift­ed to Ry­der Trau­ma Cen­ter in Mi­a­mi with burns to the arms in what they de­scribed as a “bizarre se­ries of events that be­gan with a bur­glary call.”

 
Al­leyne was found dead in her Ocala home ear­li­er Wednes­day morn­ing by Mar­i­on Coun­ty Sher­iff’s Of­fice Deputies.

The sus­pect’s cap­ture in Mon­roe Coun­ty be­gan when the Mon­roe Coun­ty Sher­iff’s Of­fice 911 Com­mu­ni­ca­tions Spe­cial­ists re­ceived a home bur­glary call at 69401 Over­seas High­way on Long Key just north of the town of Lay­ton at about 10 am on Wednes­day.

Re­spond­ing Deputies re­ceived a video of the sus­pect and car.

But deputies did not know they were look­ing for the sus­pect at that time.

 
Short­ly af­ter a be-on-the-look­out was is­sued, an­oth­er 911 call came in, with the re­port­ing per­son stat­ing a man was scream­ing that his car blew up and that he was burnt.

On­ly mo­ments there­after, a third 911 call came in of a fire at an ad­ja­cent prop­er­ty at 57336 Over­seas High­way very near the Edge­wa­ter Road prop­er­ty.

A car was en­gulfed and caught the stilt­ed 57336 home on fire as well. The car was a Maz­da CX7 sport util­i­ty ve­hi­cle, the same car Mar­i­on Coun­ty of­fi­cials re­port­ed was be­ing dri­ven by the sus­pect.

Deputies quick­ly iden­ti­fied the man as both the bur­glary sus­pect and Al­leyne’s mur­der sus­pect, giv­en he was want­ed out of Mar­i­on Coun­ty.

The sus­pect’s burns were deemed se­ri­ous and Marathon Fire Res­cue para­medics took him to the Sher­iff’s Of­fice Avi­a­tion Unit hangar at the Flori­da Keys Marathon In­ter­na­tion­al Air­port where he was air­lift­ed to Mi­a­mi.

The sus­pect is ex­pect­ed to be served with the war­rant out of Mar­i­on Coun­ty and will be charged with the Long Key bur­glary.

He could al­so face more charges.

Al­leyne, 20, was the moth­er of one, a one-year-old girl and was orig­i­nal­ly from Point Fortin.

On Wednes­day the Mar­i­on Coun­ty Sher­iff’s Of­fice (MC­SO) re­ceived a call for ser­vice from a fam­i­ly mem­ber con­cerned for Al­leyne’s well be­ing.

Up­on ar­rival, the MC­SO de­tec­tives found the vic­tim, Alleyene dead in her home.

Be­fore Al­leyne was found dead, the sus­pect post­ed a Face­book mes­sage pro­fess­ing his love for her.

He lat­er post­ed an­oth­er cryp­tic mes­sage sig­nalling the end of her life.
